Collect Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 6, 2026. Collect is an archive for the things you own: you photograph an object, the app lifts it out of the photo, and you keep it with a label. It is provided by Engcraft, LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information Collect collects, how it is used, and who it is shared with.
Data controller
Collect is provided by Engcraft, LLC. For privacy requests, legal notices, or deletion requests, contact support@engcraft.io.
Information stored on your device and in your iCloud
Collect has no accounts. Your items, meaning the cutouts, names, categories, places, prices, notes, and dates, are stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, they also sync through your private iCloud database so they appear on your other devices. That database belongs to your Apple ID; Engcraft cannot read it.
Camera and photos
Collect uses the camera to photograph objects and the photo picker to import photos you choose. It has no access to the rest of your photo library. Cutting an object out of its photo happens on your device.
Location
If you leave Save location on, Collect records where an item was captured, using your location while the app is in use, and reads the location stored inside a photo you import. To turn a location into a place name, or a place name you type into a point on the map, the coordinates or the text are sent to Apple’s Maps service. Locations are stored with your items as described above and are not sent to us. You can switch Save location off in the app’s Settings and change location access at any time in iOS Settings.
AI naming and AI cutouts
When Name with AI is on, Collect sends a reduced copy of the photo to a third-party AI provider, fal.ai, which returns a suggested name and category. When you ask to refine a cutout, or switch off Cut out on device, the photo is sent to the same provider to remove its background. These requests carry the image only, not your name, your location, or your other items. You can turn Name with AI off in Settings and keep cutouts on device. AI suggestions may be inaccurate.
Subscriptions and purchases
Collect offers paid auto-renewing subscriptions. Apple processes App Store billing and tells the app whether a subscription is active. We do not receive your payment card details.
What we do not do
Collect contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking software. We do not sell personal information and do not use your information for third-party advertising.
Retention, deletion, and your rights
Data on your device stays there until you delete it or uninstall the app; data in your iCloud is managed in your iCloud settings. Images sent for AI naming or AI cutouts are processed to return the result and are handled under the AI provider’s own retention terms. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information by contacting support@engcraft.io. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA/CPRA.
Security, transfers, children, and changes
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Collect is not directed to children under 13, or under 16 in the EEA, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We may update this policy from time to time and will post the updated version on this page.
